At Story Soup Kids, our purpose and goal is to encourage creative storytelling. Literacy is very important in our eyes and we want every child to have fun and enjoy reading. We welcome our visitors, help parents to parent more effectively and treat guests with the utmost respect. We also take the issue of privacy very seriously. We respect the privacy of children, and do not collect any more personal information than is reasonably necessary to enable them to participate in the activities we offer at our Web sites.

Kids: Be sure to ask your parents for permission before you send any information about yourself (your name, address, e-mail address, etc.) to us or anyone else over the Internet.

Parents and Guardians: We encourage you to get involved with your children's online usage and to be aware of the activities in which they are participating. While we welcome all of our guests to enjoy the many features of our site, we encourage you to limit your children's time online. When used properly, the Internet can be entertaining and educational. But even we at Story Soup Kids realize that there is a lot more to a well-balanced life than just 'surfing the web'.

Information Collection Policies
At our sites, we have a policy of collecting limited personally identifiable information. To enable children to participate in some of our online activities, we may ask them to provide us with their first name and e-mail address. Story Soup Kids will only use this information for internal purposes – for fulfillment of a requested transaction or to respond to children’s specific requests to participate in activities, such as sending stories they have wrote.

When you, or your child visits our sites, we automatically collect certain non-personally identifiable information, such as the type of computer operating system (e.g., Windows 98 or Mac OS) and browser (e.g., Netscape or Internet Explorer) that you use, and the domain name of your Internet service provider (e.g., America Online, Earthlink). (See “Cookies” below.) We use this information to improve the design and content of our site, and to enable us to personalize your Internet experience. We also may use this information in the aggregate to analyze site usage and to offer you products, programs or services.

We Do Not Share Personal Information
We do not share any personal information. No third parties will ever receive any data collected

Product Orders:
Story Soup Kids uses an order form for users to request products and order information. For that order form, we collect the user’s name, e-mail address, billing address, phone number, shipping address, and necessary financial information to process the order (i.e. credit card number).

We will disclose the information we maintain when required to do so by law – for example, in response to a court order or subpoena. We may also disclose such information in response to a law enforcement agency’s request.

If Story Soup Kids, or substantially all of its assets, are acquired, the information we collect may be one of the transferred assets.  Any such transfer will be subject to applicable privacy laws.

Cookies:
http://childstoryhour.com uses cookies to help us make the site better. A "cookie" is a small, temporary file placed on your computer's hard disk, and is used to collect user information. (Unfortunately, it's not edible!) Cookies help us to find out what kind of computer and Web browser you are using to visit our site, how often you visit our site, and which pages you look at while you're here. The information we gather from these cookies helps us to make our site available to the most people possible.

Story Soup Kids collects aggregate information about visitors to our site. We do not use cookies to collect specific information about individual users, such as your name, address, e-mail address, credit card information, passwords, or anything else. Sometimes we will attach information from cookies to messages sent to our Customer Service department.

Most Web browsers are initially set to accept cookies. If you prefer, you can set your browser to refuse cookies or to alert you when cookies are being sent by changing your preferences under the options menu of your browser. However, some portions of our sites may not function properly or may run very slowly when you change this setting on your browser.

Security: We have in place appropriate safeguards to secure the very limited personal information we receive from our visitors for the limited time it is in our possession. We use industry standard security measures, such as SSL, to protect any sensitive information (such as credit card information) that you may provide to us to access some of our services.

Off-Site Links:
Story Soup Kids makes available links to sponsor sites. Our policy is that all links be kid friendly. We may also provide links to newsworthy information or articles about literacy that may be of interest to Story Soup Kids web site visitors. We do not make representations and warranties as to other sites' content or information collection policies.

Changes to the Privacy Policy:
This policy is reviewed periodically by Story Soup Kids and may be subject to change. Any changes will be posted here.
