4th of July Twirlers Materials: Red Paper Plates (Heavy duty such as Chinette work good) White Paper Plates Blue Paper Plates Marker Scissors String Directions: Using the marker, make a dot in the very center of the plate. Now, draw a spiral that starts 3/8 inch from the dot and makes its way out to the rim of the plate. Next, cut along the line from rim to starting point. Tie a big knot at the end of a piece of string. Thread the other end up through the hole in the center, and the twirler is ready to hang up in the breeze and spin. To spin by hand, twirl it around and around until the string is wound tight then let go and watch it spin.
