Best Dressed Dressing

Best Dressed Dressing

2 boxes Jiffy cornbread mix
4 stalks of celery, chopped
2 small onions, chopped
4 slices bread
1/2 cup chicken broth or turkey drippings
Sage to taste
Dash of salt and a dash of pepper

Prepare and bake the cornbread according to the package directions. Allow to cool.

Put the celery, onions and bread in a bowl and put just enough water in the bowl to cover the ingredients. Let it soak for about 20 minutes then drain the liquid and squeeze out any excess water.

Crumble the cooled cornbread into a bowl and then add the onions, celery and soaked bread to the bowl. Mix well with your hands. Add salt, pepper and chicken broth and mix some more. Add sage to taste and finish by mixing well.

Bake at 350 F for 40 to 45 minutes or until done.

*Children should always be supervised when preparing or cooking in the kitchen.
