Cheese Straws

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F

Ingredients:
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup flour
1/2 cup ground sunflower seeds
1/4 teaspoon cayenne (powdered)

Directions:
Mix the cheese, butter and salt in a food processor or blender.  Blend until smooth.  Add the flour and the ground sunflower seeds and blend more, until it is well mixed.

Form the dough into teaspoons sized balls and place on a greased baking sheet.  Flatten them using a fork, dipped in flour (so the dough will not stick).  Sprinkle a very small amount of the cayenne over the flattened balls.

Bake for 7-10 minutes, or until they just start to turn brown.

You can serve them warm or let them cool to room temperature before serving.

*Children should always be supervised when preparing or cooking in the kitchen.
